More Incoming Stash

Took a tiring trip to town yesterday....because it started with a drs visit, continued to Denny's to eat a late breakfast (11am or so), to Walgreens, Harbor Freight, Home Depot, LQS, tire store, Producers Co-op, and a Chinese restaurant on the way home.... to pooped to pop when we got home....so was our pocketbook...

Anyway, I visited my LQS....they moved a very short time ago to a new location,,,right next door,,, Lovely new spacious area!  Imagine a J, with the door at the top and the crook going the other way

Long, wide display area with walls fixed to display quilts all the way down....In the back & in the crook of the J will be sale items, the classrooms,  maybe a craft room, a Man Cave (yes, DH loved being in there while I was browsing/buying) watching a video of Tom and Jerry (his choice)..the owner is debating about putting cable in, but has started a collection of DVDs....  Also there was a room for the sewing machines to be displayed and tried out, an employee lounge, ... and more rooms to do as she wants,,including a delivery area in the back!

Must go back there soon,,,in the meantime, here is what I bought.....small pair of scissors, batting, and these.....

On sale, mini-bolts of around 1 - 1 1/2 yards,, half price......I may be using the sewing one for my ironing board top, but don't know,,,it is so cute...I think I have enough in my b/w group to do something with,,,,and hope to start a brown/tan/?? quilt soon....

See you later...am out to the barn to drink with my hubby......

Catching up on news....and stash additions.....

Greetings....we had a great rain storm a few nights ago...2.5 inches...which we needed so badly!  That may be it for the summer, the way the weather has been acting....

I am working on my last (notice, I said LAST!) curtain and have put DH on the alert for need of curtain rods....He is still sandblasting parts of a rusty metal trailer...I will leave it at that, other than....

Attack of the Red-Hooded Sandblaster

I have just decided I am going to make another bag just in case...I could use two bags and surely I can get one finished in a couple of weeks in time for my bus trip.....maybe..... will let you see either the cloth or the result later....

The first of this month I went to my GDs birthday party (1 yr).  We were early and stopped in a garage sale a few houses away...here is some of what I found ..

30 "cheater" blocks (17 x 17), already cut and ready to sew; a vintage sheet, and red, white, blue fabric.

I can make either one  huge, big quilt (85 x102 minimum) or 2 twin size quilts (51 x 85 minimum..maybe some borders) for beds.  Which would you suggest? ...don't know who will get them yet.. may donate them to someone...

Always wanted to try a vintage sheet in my sewing, now I have to find companion fabrics for them...

I also will find a good pattern for the other fabric...obviously a patriotic one (for July 4, 2012, obviously...I can't get it done in time for this year, )...

Back to my sewing...I promised myself to concentrate on curtains before anything else, so must get the last one done before the bag is started.....

Feeling better,.....odds and ends, rambling, and small bit of news....

Okay, I am feeling better, but my camera isn't....technically, my camera is okay, but the little whatziz that I take out of the camera and put  into my computer won't jive with my computer, so I had to get another something or 'nother..???......anyway, my pictures will be here shortly, as well as myself...

Also, for the first time in a long time I was able to sign in from the "sign in" on my blog..it went to the sign in page and I tried and, lowabehold, it worked...don't know if I can do it again, so somebody please comment on this post so I can try again through my e-mail, which shows comments.  seems as if that avenue closes down after a period of time and I need fresh comments....

If that last paragraph can be understood by anyone, they need a job as a cryptographer!

Hopefully, this is lost somewhere in my sewing room....it is my shlep bag (it has been so long ago, I can't remember how to spell it!).  If any of you see it, let me know, because I will really need it when I go on my roaming bus trip next month to 6 different quilt shops around!  More on that later....

Anyway, I have been working....2 curtains completed and 2 more to go!  Also, I found a nice group of ladies at a local church that meets twice a month...not really a guild, just some quilters who are sewing different projects....maybe my camera will jump into my purse before I go there again next week so I can take some pictures...

Also, I want to thank all my followers for being patient...I have not lost a one since I slowed down....and I hopefully will have another mini-giveaway on the first of July (if I can get back on..) ....more of that later,,,,,

My chicken is ready to be taken out of the oven so DH and I can eat....love ya'll and thanks again for the patience.....

Sallie!  I have sent her an e-mail and will try to get the fabric in the mail on Monday!

Sorry I was so late with the results, but went to the emergency room last night just for safety's sake...it's an hr to get there and DH & I were exhausted by the time we got back...we're both over the ordeal now, however...

Also,,,,my new GS has arrived! as of just a couple of hours ago!  8 lbs 12 oz, 21 inches long,,,,#6 in the family...#9 grandchild.... all fine and well....

Package on its' Way

It is Tuesday evening and I have finished all of the (large) receiving blankets for my new-to-be GC.  By the time you read this, it will be traveling to its' destination....They, along with the crayola wall-hanging, didn't really take long,,,I was just my usual lazy self and didn't hurry with their creation....didn't even really quilt the blankets, only sewed a few straight lines to keep everything together.

I have taken a vacation, sort of, from blogging the last few days...Didn't even realize it until I sat down to write this post....so now I need to get to my pages and sort of catch them up again...I have been doing my 15 minutes/day quilting....That's why these are done....and my Giveaway Page is way behind and neglected .....it's nice to be able to tell you about the ones I find, though it would be nice if one of them was one you hadn't heard of.

What have I been doing, besides quilting, if I haven't been blogging???? Well, I rediscovered the front porch;  the interesting view of a bird swooping down and worrying something large in the front lawn,,,that turned out to be a relatively large snake...nonpoisonous,,,which happened to be chased toward and upon our aforementioned large front porch, where DH took his small shovel and dispensed with it....our brave dog and I hovered on the other end of the porch during this duel, afterwhich we decided that the bird was the bravest of us all...

A few days later, we met with DS and family and watched our newly upright ambulatory DGD investigate everything from sewing room to front porch.... and will see her again this weekend at her first birthday party....sandwiches and cake, small gathering,,,they are in the middle of moving...we wonder if the party is really an excuse to gather help for the move......

I have been watching DH rebuild an open trailer, replacing lumber on the bottom and sides.  The old rotted wood created too much openness for the open trailer.  I helped by standing on the various boards while he bolted them in place....my weight is good for something....

And the deer are still coming around in the side yard in the mornings....

There are two cardinals, one dominant and fighting for its' private territory, and the other stubbornly refusing to give up his right to try and take over.....

Purple martins are still flying around, but none nesting that we know of..they are fun to watch, however....

Spring and summer are too nice to be missed, even if one is quilting......

and I have just started hand quilting.....this.....

This picture was taken on New Year's Day of this year...It is a mystery quilt top which I had then completed.  It has been sitting, sandwiched, waiting for inpiration to hit.....It still hasn't hit, but I got tired of waiting....It will be interesting to see how it turns out...

Knowing how I work, one of two things will happen:  either you will not hear about this for a long time, or you will hear about it so often you will wish I had never started the project...I will try to hit a happy medium between the two...in the years to come.....

I'm back with #10 Mini-giveaway...

I have not disappeared,,,,I have not tried to correct my inability to sign in as one should through the front door... but if you come with me around back, you will see my #10 Mini-giveaway....

This is hard for me to describe because I really don't know the name of this type of cloth and I certainly don't want to mislead anyone..

It is a shiny, slick, silky fabric, definitely not cotton.   It is not the type I would use for a silk scarf...not silky or soft enough..It has more body than a silk scarf would have, but not much. I would call it non-quilty, although some of you might use it in a quilt, such as a crazy quilt...  If you decide to iron it I would say the iron would have to be set at a medium setting so as not to scorch it....so I am not going to iron it before sending..

It is a large piece that has a cut-away area and is difficult to measure..I would say between 1/2 to 3/4 yard.  I am not cutting off any fabric so you will see what I mean if you win it...

I love the design and wish I had more knowledge of the type of fabric it is....it's no big mystery and I am certain the winner of the fabric can probably ascertain the type....

SOOOOOOOO......the giveaway closed at 10:00am on June 3rd (CST) and DH will draw the winner out of a container of some sort....

I will contact you if you can be contacted,,,if not, then someone else will win the prize.....

Good Luck to all...

And now,,,, come back on June 15th....
